The View Hospital has successfully performed the first robotic adrenal mass resection in the private healthcare sector in Qatar, marking a significant advancement in minimally invasive and robotic surgery in the country.
The patient presented with severe hypertension, and diagnostic imaging revealed a large left adrenal mass measuring 6 cm. Given the complexity of the case, surgical intervention was necessary but posed considerable challenges from both surgical and anesthesia perspectives.
The procedure was led by Dr. Ihab Abutabanjeh, an expert in urologic robotic surgery, who elected to proceed using the Da Vinci robotic system. The adrenal mass was successfully resected in 45 minutes, demonstrating exceptional precision and efficiency.
Commenting on the anesthesia aspect, Dr. Skander Ben Halima, Consultant Anesthesiologist and Head of Department, stated that the speed and control of the robotic procedure significantly minimized anesthesia-related risks, particularly blood pressure fluctuations during manipulation of the adrenal mass.
The patient recovered smoothly and was discharged just two days after surgery, reflecting the benefits of advanced robotic techniques in reducing recovery time and improving patient outcomes.
This achievement represents a major milestone for the private healthcare sector in Qatar, reinforcing The View Hospital’s commitment to advanced technology, clinical excellence, and patient-centered care.
