Dr. Sinan Al-Rubaye is a UK-trained Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist and Advanced Interventional Endoscopist with extensive experience in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases affecting the digestive system, liver and pancreas.
After graduating from Baghdad University, he completed specialist training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology within the United Kingdom and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) by Health Education England and the Royal College of Physicians. His training included advanced fellowships in interventional endoscopy and hepatology at internationally recognised centres, with additional expertise in the management of complex liver disease, including patients before and after liver transplantation.
Throughout his career, Dr. Al-Rubaye has worked in several leading NHS university and tertiary referral hospitals, including the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (Birmingham), North Bristol NHS Trust, North Middlesex University Hospital (London), and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, where he also served as Head of Endoscopy. Alongside his clinical practice, he has held leadership roles in endoscopy quality improvement, service development, clinical governance and specialist training.
Dr. Al-Rubaye provides comprehensive care for the full spectrum of gastrointestinal disorders. His practice encompasses upper gastrointestinal and colorectal cancer screening and prevention, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy and the detection and removal of precancerous polyps. He has extensive experience in investigating symptoms such as abdominal pain, acid reflux, difficulty swallowing, bloating, chronic diarrhoea, constipation, rectal bleeding, iron deficiency anaemia, unexplained weight loss and changes in bowel habit.
He has a particular interest in the diagnosis and long-term management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis), delivering personalised treatment strategies that include advanced biological and targeted therapies, while working closely with patients to optimise long-term disease control and quality of life.
In hepatology, Dr. Al-Rubaye manages a broad range of liver conditions including fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, autoimmune liver disorders, cirrhosis, portal hypertension and liver tumours. His expertise also extends to pancreatic and biliary diseases, including gallstones, pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts and pancreatic cancer, with advanced skills in Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for both diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment.
